Planning for Planned Gifts: A Lawyer's Perspective

This session will provide an overview of the planned giving process from from a legal perspective. Participants will learn how an attorney works with a donor to determine a gifting strategy, incorporating tax and personal goals. They will learn tips on when and how to work with donors and their advisory team on planned gifts, and important things to consider when cultivating and/or accepting these gifts. 

The session will also cover what happens on the back end (i.e., when a planned gift comes to fruition).  Participants will learn about the administration process and their organization's rights as a beneficiary. We will discuss the risks along the way, what happens when a planned gift goes wrong, and simple steps that your organization can take to protect their interests.  

This session will be speaker led, and is intended to be interactive, entertaining, and extremely practical.
