Bio

Jen is the leader of Spitfire Strategies, a communications and advocacy firm that advances racial, economic and climate justice. She is one of the nation’s leading strategists on the issues of police accountability, community safety, protecting rights and humanity in the age of new technologies like artificial intelligence, democracy and higher education.

A trusted advisor to leading social change activists, philanthropies looking to live their missions and mission-driven organizations, Jen brings more than 20 years of experience leading major campaigns and seeding movements. As an award-winning journalist, Jen enjoys training the next generation of progressive communicators. She is dedicated to creating a space where diverse leaders can hone the skills needed to lead tomorrow’s movements.

Jen specializes in managing Spitfire’s most complex, high-stakes projects. She supports organizations with serious communications challenges, from securing justice for families of those murdered by police to companies building will to implement structural changes for racial and environmental justice. She coaches emerging leaders and whole fields to become powerful changemakers.

Known for her counsel, Jen works with individual justice seekers facing national and international scrutiny. She has advised returning citizens, MacArthur Fellows, national movement leaders and executives of the most targeted progressive companies. Jen helps them control their most valuable asset – their stories.
