Summary:

Launching a first capital campaign is equal parts exhilarating and overwhelming — especially for a mission-driven organization serving refugee and immigrant communities. This session draws on the real-time experience of Global Village's Cultural Hub and Housing Campus campaign, presented jointly by the organization's development team and their capital campaign consultants and a board member.

We'll walk through how we built internal capacity from the ground up, navigated the planning and feasibility process, and what we wish we'd known before we started. This isn't a polished post-mortem — our campaign is still underway, which means we're sharing hard-won lessons as we're living them. Attendees will hear directly from both the nonprofit and the consulting side, offering a rare dual perspective on what it takes to plan and launch a first campaign successfully. Attendees will leave with a realistic roadmap, a clearer sense of what to prioritize, and the confidence to move forward even when the path isn't perfectly clear.
