Summary:

People do not experience generosity in a vacuum. They experience it through websites, conversations, events, emails, stories, forms, follow-up, recognition, community rituals and the thousand small signals that tell them whether they belong.

This session explores how to design moments that make generosity more likely, more joyful and more deeply connected to identity and purpose. Attendees will examine what causes people to pay attention, feel trust, remember a message, see themselves in the mission and take meaningful action. The session moves beyond “donor engagement” as a checklist and into the psychology of how people actually experience giving.

From first impressions to lasting loyalty, participants will learn how to shape experiences that invite people into something larger than a transaction. They will leave with practical ways to improve campaigns, events, digital experiences, stewardship, volunteer pathways and donor journeys so generosity feels less like an obligation and more like an expression of who people are and the community they want to build.
